Fight Poverty and Earn Points to See Neil Young & Foo Fighters Live

Want to see Neil Young, The Foo Fighters, and The Black Keys for free at NYC’s Central Park? All you have to do it earn a few points and badges by fighting against poverty! This year’s Global Festival Concert will be taking place on September 29th to help the Global Poverty Project. The date coincides with a U.N. Assembly in an effort to gain international support to fight against extreme poverty. Want to become a Global Citizen, experience an incredible concert, and support a good cause? All you have to do is follow a few simple steps:

  1. Sign up to become a Global Citizen
  2. Sign up for petitions, tweet, and share Global Citizen content for points. Getting 3 points earns you one entry into a drawing for free tickets and every 5 points earned after that will grant one additional entry. If you really want to see this concert without playing the game, there is also a limited number of VIP tickets for sale that will guarantee entry.

You can earn points in these pages:

Local NYC news publication amNY got the chance to ask Hugh Evans, CEO of the Global Poverty Project, about his decision to use the point system. He stated that free concerts can create amazing experiences but they often do not generate enough lasting change. By creating this point system:

”People have to qualify their actions, like sharing content on social media or signing petitions in support of the charities involved.”

What do you guys think? Is this an effective way of creating lasting change? Either way, having an event like this is sure to generate an enormous amount of buzz and awareness to the problems the Global Festival is trying to address. Lets hope the U.N. assembly notices and perhaps earn a few points for themselves too.
