New for GSummit SF 2014: Hands-on Labs for ALL Conference Attendees

With the consistently sold-out success of our Certification Workshops at GSummit each year, we decided to add a workshop experience to the regular conference agenda FOR ALL ATTENDEES to participate it. We call them Hands-on Labs and they’re going to be one of the best aspects of this year’s event–guaranteed!
Each of the 90-minute Labs will offer a limited group of attendees (first come, first served) a hands-on learning experience. So far, we have 2 Labs announced, with more coming soon:

HANDS-ON LAB #1
Game the System™ – A Proven Method to Level Up Training and Development
Facilitated by: Monica Cornetti (Founder, EntrepreNow!) @monicacornetti
As you play along on the Game the System™ game board, this hands-on, gamified lab takes you through the 5-step process of adding low-tech gamification to your organizations HR training and development programs. Upon completion of this lab, participants will be able to:
  • Define their measurable business objectives and determine how gamification will help them to achieve their objective
  • Weave a story or theme to make the training stickable – so that players remember facts and transfer skills to real world scenarios
  • Create the right mix of ingredients and next steps in their learning activities to allow the participants to acquire knowledge and skill
  • Identify the game elements (points, badges, leaderboards, etc.) and game mechanics (chance, competition, collaboration, rewards, etc.) they will use
  • Construct a consistent, attractive – even charming and captivating – cohesiveness that ties the entire project together
  • Answer the question: Is it fun?

When the Game the System™ 5-step process is orchestrated effectively, learning goals are achieved with maximum effectiveness and impact. Our brains thrive on such stimulation. In fact, the Game the System™ method is learning at its best.

HANDS-ON LAB #2
Creating Emotional Engagement through Game Design
Facilitated by: Jeb Havens (Product Manager & Sr Game Designer, Google/YouTube) @jebhavens
This highly-interactive game design lab will challenge you to experiment with the ways that certain game mechanics can tap into a player’s emotional center, creating a strong sense of engagement. Learn basic game design fundamentals, as well as advanced techniques for building emotional investment, and immediately test them out in a series of game design exercises.

These Labs are meant to enhance your experience at GSummit, as well as offer each attendee a way to learn in a hands-on environment. They’ll also be a great compliment to the 50+ speakers throughout the conference. Gabe’s Gamification Certification Workshop (Expert – Level 3) is designed to take professionals with an interest in gamification and engagement science through the basics of player motivation, game systems thinking, creative design, gamification architecture and implementation modalities. It will provide a foundational education and key methodologies necessary to architect gamification for employee, customer and/or audience engagement. This workshop sells out every year and space is strictly limited.
For Who: C-Levels, Marketing & HR Execs, Strategists, Designers, Product People, Founders and anyone interested in advancing their User Engagement Expertise
